Location Scouting and Management for Film, Television and Stills
Introduction:
Tom has been working in the media industry since 1999 where
his first ‘paid’ job was a director’s assistant to
Charles Sturridge on the major Granada Films production Longitude (transmitted
on Channel 4). Progressing into the locations department via a stint
in at the locations library Amazing Space as a co-ordinator.
After 18 months he left to establish himself as freelancer starting off
as an assistant and location scout working for established location managers.
This apprentice period soon took Tom into managing commercials and then
into television productions. The first major television production he
managed was the first series of Greenwing (Channel 4)
more recently Tom has moved into feature films including the multi award
winning In The Loop.
“ One of my keenest skills is location scouting, over the
years I have spent many hours beating the streets of the UK looking
for any types of locations from the ‘average’ sitting
room to interior of the United Nations Building in the UK!”
Tom has an extensive personal knowledge of locations in the UK, including London,
the Home Counties, Yorkshire and Southern Ireland. Many of the locations
documented are unique and un-filmed. You can see examples of these locations
in the SCOUT page of this web site.
“ Location managing is a fine balance of the artistic demands
of the film production with the realities of the working world. Working
in a film unit can be insular and the public, residents and care
of the property be overlooked by the busy crew but a good locations
manager will be able to achieve all of this and keeping everyone
happy.”
Take a moment to look through the website, it is small only 4 main pages, I
am sure it will give you an overview of my skills and expertise in finding
the right location for your production.
